VT leads U.S. in physical and mental health parity

If you live in Vermont, mental and physical health care are covered in the same way. But why don’t the other 49 states follow suit?
Efforts are in the works to do just that.
Introduced to Congress in early June, the Worker’s Disability Benefits Parity Act would end the disparity between mental and physical conditions nationwide. The proposed legislation came a year and half after the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) advisory council submitted a report that concluded limitations like the 24-month cutoff were discriminatory.
