As mass violence continues, threat and risk assessment practitioners strive to help

It has been 26 years since the Columbine High School massacre and in late August, children were gunned down in Minneapolis while praying in a church at the start of the school year.
Mass shootings at schools, workplaces, and houses of worship have escalated, with fatal incidents averaging 25 per year since 2006, according to the Washington Post.
The “good” news is that heightened awareness means there has been greater attention on safety protocols and identifying and treating those at risk of committing these acts.
